Founded in 1963, Crawford Packaging Materials Ltd. began as an industrial paper distributor with local business ties. Mr. Dick Crawford, the Company's founder also owned a polyethylene extrusion facility in London Ontario and introduced the Company to the extruded film market. In 1981 Crawford Packaging was sold to its present owner, Mr. Clarence Covey. Mr. Covey charted the course into the industrial/automotive markets where the Company has experienced strong growth and market penetration.
The 1990s were a period of continuous growth and product line expansion for Crawford Packaging. New supply sources were added and key supplier relationships forged. During this time Crawford Packaging continued to expand based on its growing reputation as a professional, reliable and service oriented organization.
Acquisitions were undertaken to grow geographically and also to amass greater purchasing power with suppliers. L & E Paper, Lion Shipping Supplies, Star Packaging Equipment and Provincial Paper and Packaging were all purchased in the past decade. With the purchase of Provincial and Star the company opened up both a distribution warehouse and also an equipment and service depot in the GTA.
The company also changed its trading name from Crawford SupplyLINE to Crawford Provincial as Provincial was a long standing quality name in the GTA packaging supply marketplace. With the development of two packaging equipment and service centres, a second division was created to focus on the sale of packaging equipment. The Supply Line division focuses on the sale of consumables while the Packaging Equipment division focuses on the sale of equipment and servicing equipment with factory trained technicians.
Today, Crawford Provincial is one of Canada's largest independently owned packaging, facility supply and equipment distributors. Offering a full range of competitively priced packaging, shipping, cleaning supplies, shrink and stretch film/wrap, food service, and hospitality supplies and a Total Delivery Program of customized and flexible value added services, Crawford Provincial helps customers lower costs and increase efficiencies. |
